Michael Crawley was born in 1938 and is best known for working for 'Royal Crown Derby'. His designs have appeared frequently on their products and he was one of the artists who have been noted for their work in the Derby Porcelain International Society. He often used his own landscapes and flower paintings as designs on porcelain. During his time at Royal Crown Derby he was responsible for decorating a series of dinner plates and a cream jug presented to HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on the occasion of her visit to the Royal Crown Derby factory in 1971. In 1974 he painted six plates with Derbyshire scenes which were presented to HRH Princess Anne when she visited Royal Crown Derby.
