This dynamic still life by the Belgian painter Médard Tytgat (1871-1948) depicts a vase overflowing with an array of summer flowers. Médard Tytgat (1871-1948) was a Belgian painter, illustrator, and graphic artist associated with Symbolism and later decorative and narrative art in Belgium. He was born in Brussels and became known for his detailed, imaginative works, often drawing on folklore, fantasy, and literary themes. Tytgat worked in both painting and printmaking, producing illustrations and decorative compositions that reflected a blend of humour, dreamlike imagery, and traditional craftsmanship.
