A woman sits beside a fireplace knitting in a rustic interior setting. The work is signed in the lower right corner, and the mount is inscribed with the artist's name and "Exh. 1891-1908." Well presented in a gilt-effect frame with a washline mount. On paper.

The condition is good for a picture of this age. Slight discolouration and foxing to the paper. Scuffs and wear to the frame.

Artist Biography

Maud Mary Turner (1862-1947) was a painter born in Kensington, London. A prolific exhibitor, she showed at the Dudley Gallery, Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, and on several occasions at the Society of Women Artists.
