Painter, born in Liverpool the daughter of an iron founder, she studied at Liverpool School of Art under John Finnie where she won gold and silver medals and a travelling scholarship. Her award took her to France where she attended the Académie Delecluse, Paris. On her return to England, she relocated to St. Ives where she studied under Julius Olsson. McCrossan specialised in landscape and was much praised for her watercolours. She was a member Liverpool Academy, Sandon Studios Society, Liver Sketching Club and was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1926 and by 1927 she had become a member of the St. Ives Society of Artists, 1927-34. McCrossan ran a painting school from her Porthmeor studio and exhibited harbour and coastal pictures from St. Ives up to her death.
