A prolific engraver, painter and muralist born in New York. Coulouris attended firstly the Chelsea School of Art, 1956-58 and then the Slade School, 1958-62 studying under renowned etcher Anthony Gross. A French government scholarship took her to Paris where she studied at Atelier 17 with Stanley Hayter and where she went on to develop her own colour etching technique.
Her work soon became influenced by the French Impressionists and by Riego Riviero. Coulouris' vibrant palette stems from her Mediterranean background and from the many years she spent in the Greek Islands.
