Artist Biography
Margaret Knott went to St. Martin’s School of Art in the fifties, and then worked as a designer in advertising at CPV, Ogilvy & Mather and Hans Schleger & Assocs. Her work was published in ‘Designers in Britain’. Later She learnt ceramics at Putney School of Art, taught it, and now does etching there.
Margaret paints outside whenever she can, mostly with gouache, oil and graphite. She prefers her fingers to a brush. Her prints and paintings have been greatly influenced by her work as a designer. She has exhibited in Paris and New York and numerous UK exhibitions, she is now mainly with Will’s Art Warehouse and New Ashgate Farnham.
