Description
A portrait of Francesco Bartolozzi RA (1727-1815) by Robert Samuel Marcuard (1759-c.1788) after Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792). Bartolozzi was a Founder Member of the Royal Academy who served as engraver to the King for almost forty years. An identical impression is in the collection of the British Museum, dated 1784. Presented glazed in a card mount with a gold inner edge and a gilt-effect wooden frame with ripple moulding to the outer edge and a beaded inner edge. On wove.Condition
There is some mild discolouration to the engraving and some foxing and discolouration to the mount. There are some cracks, chips, and restorations to the frame. Overall in good condition and a fine decorative object.
