Description
A moody still life in the manner of the artist, Vanessa Bell. Bell was one of the founding members of the Bloomsbury group and this painting certainly retains the style and values of what the Bloomsbury Group strove to express across their range of work. This beautifully restrained still life lets the naturalistic darkened set up of the scene, illuminate the gold an gleaming white of the delicate porcelain bowl. A truly beautiful piece. The painting is unsigned and presented in a handsome black wax, Dutch style frame with a gilt inner window. On board.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration, dirt and craquelure. The frame is in fine condition.
