A beautiful mid 19th Century watercolour,showing a pretty young flower seller with dark hair and a corseted dress with linen undershirt. She is carrying a basket of delicate pink roses on her head, in which is concealed a cherub with an arrow directed over her head. The composition and Romantic style is clearly influenced and based on that of the French genre paint, Jean-Frédéric Schall (1752-1825).
