A romantic late 18th century pastel rendered in the manner of Francois Boucher (1703-1770), portraying two lovers tenderly embracing in a moonlit forest. Beside them, their loyal dogs sit attentively, a rose-covered bonnet resting nearby. Both figures are dressed in shimmering satin, their garments catching the soft glow of moonlight as they gaze into each other's eyes. Unsigned. Handsomely presented behind glass in a gilt oval frame. On paper.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. Abrasions visible throughout. Imperfections to the glass including chips and scratches. The frame shows signs of wear consistent with age, including cracking, scuffs and losses. The frame has been touched in with gold paint.
