Description

An exquisite expressionist landscape, with elements of fauvist influence. The artist has executed the scene in the manner of the renowned Russian expressionist painter Chaïm Soutine (13 January 1893 – 9 August 1943). The artist has used a cool green and blue palette to highlight the fresh, verdant nature of the Alpine landscape and suggestive brushstrokes among the layers of colour to give form and strength to the mountains. The artist has signed to the lower left (possibly "Soutine").

The painting has been presented in a contemporary brush silver frame with a linen slip.

On canvas.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirtying. There is a small hole at each corner from previous hanging. There is some craquelure to the surface. There are two dents to the left side of the frame.
