Maggy Clarysse

An extraordinary collection of colourful oil paintings by Maggy Clarysse, ranging from pointillist studies of garden scenes, to impasto continental landscapes, and post-impressionist still life arrangements. Maggy's family like to remember her as a “musician with perfect pitch". A multi talented artist able to paint in any style, made evident by the spectrum of paintings we have to offer.

Born In Belgium, Clarysse studied art at a college in Brussels with the goal of becoming a Paris fashion house designer. After completing her college course, she eventually approached a leading couture house, showing them her designs. After this initial meeting, Maggy was delighted when they agreed to take her on. However, they did not want her as a designer, but as a model.

This change in career led to work in Paris, London and around Europe, with young Maggy having to relocate to Germany and then to Paris, to pursue new modelling deals. After the birth of her first child, Maggy decided to give up modelling, and from this point turned her efforts towards creating art. She painted from dawn to dusk for many decades up until her death in 2011, and enjoyed considerable success commercially as an artist.
