A beautiful example of a late 19th Century oil landscape, showing Melk Abbey, a Benedictine Monastery in Lower Austria in early autumn. Figures can be seen around a small fire to the lower right at the shore of the river. The artist has initialed to the lower right and the painting has been presented in a fine gilt effect frame with leaf and berry molding. The canvas stamp at the reverse dates this painting to the late 19th Century. On canvas.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. There is a light scuff to the upper middle. The frame has areas of restoration to the molding at the two lower corners and the upper right corner.
