A colourful modern still life study of a porcelain fruit bowl full to the brim with oranges, pears, apples and grapes. In the foreground a cut apple and knife sit to the right of the pedestalled bowl, bringing scale and perspective to the window ledge scene. Chimney stacks and rooftops rise to the background in the same colour palette as the fruit. The composition has been well-presented in a handsome gilt frame. Signed to the lower left. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Light abrasion to the surface of the painting with fine scratches to the left-hand edge. There is a small brown stain to one of the green grapes and light wear to the guilt-effect frame. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.
