Minute figures labour in a field in this charming landscape by German artist Ludwig Frey (b.1953). Frey renders the scene with meticulous detail, his fine, slightly textured application of paint imbuing the composition with a sense of movement as the grass and trees sway in the breeze. Signed to the lower right. Beautifully presented in a dark wooden frame with veneer inlay and a gilt slip. On board.

Artist Biography

German artist Ludwig Frey was born in Augsburg in 1953. Both his father and grandfather were also painters, and probably provided his initial training. He embarked on many study trips to the Allgäu region, Italy, and southern France.
