Louis Ruet after Jean-Louis Ernest Meissonier - 1911 Etching Le Voyager
Description
An exquisitely executed etching with incredibly fine detail. The etching by Louis Ruet (1867-1951) is after the original painting by Jean-Louis Ernest Meissonier (1815-1891). It shows a traveler and his horse battling gale force winds under a brooding sky, along a dirt path. The plate has been remarqued with an airplane emblem and has been signed in pencil by the engraver.
The painting has been presented in a modern, glazed, Hogarth style frame with a wide cream card mount. There is a label at the back with all the specifications of the artwork. The publisher's dates and details have been engraved in plate at the top edge.
On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor foxing. The frame is in fine condition.
