Louis-Marie-Dominique-Romain Robbe was a Belgian painter born in Courtrai (Kortrijk) who became one of the leading animal painters of 19th-century Belgium. Guided by Jan Baptiste de Jonghe and a pupil of Eugène Verboeckhoven, he devoted himself to painting from 1833, with a strong preference for scenes featuring livestock, sheep, and goats. He was also a lawyer and a notable cultural figure, founding an art society in Courtrai and mentoring younger Belgian painters.
