Description

A striking floral still life depicting a potted pink cyclamen with attractive upswept blooms and deep green foliage, positioned on a sunlit table. Unsigned. Well presented in a gilt effect frame. On paper.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age. There are several open tears to the perimeter of the paper. The artwork has been mounted in a glazed frame for further protection. Minor damage to the lower right hand corner. Light scuffs and chips to the frame. The overall condition of the artwork is good.

Collection Information

Leslie Charles Boyce was a British painter about which little is known. He appears to have favoured oil as a medium, capturing his diverse subjects with a particular lightness of feeling, achieved with gentle brushwork and a soft palette. His work includes both still life and landscape views, with a penchant for florals. Also in the collection is several figurative ink sketches and small colourful designs.
