Signed in the plate. On wove.In good condition overall. Some light surface dirt and scuffing, with some abrasion to the darker areas of the print. Trimmed just outside the plate lines.

Leopold Lowenstam (1842-1898) was a painter, etcher and engraver, born at Düsseldorf. He worked in Amsterdam and Stockholm, before moving to London in 1873, exhibiting 20 plates at the RA from 1879 to 1897. He is well-known for producing the majority of the reproductions after Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema and became the painter's preferred standard etcher.
