A fine watercolour painting with gouache details by the well-listed artist Lennard Lewis RA, depicting a rural landscape scene with a fisherman and an arch-bridge. Signed and dated to the lower left-hand corner. Well-presented in a wash line card mount and in a distressed, gilt-effect frame with details in green. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. Very minor scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography

London-born Lennard Lewis was a watercolourist and painter in oils who made a specialty of English, French and Portuguese architectural views. the exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Grosvenor Gallery and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. the also showed with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and submitted work to exhibitions in Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.
