An impressive oil on brass plate showing a lady in 17th Century dress wearing a ruff. The fascination in collecting miniature portraits originally arose due to the interest in the skill of the artist, and each portrait can be viewed as a unique and original work of art. This particular miniature is skilfully and delicately painted, the artist has wonderfully captured the ornate period ruff worn by the sitter. Unsigned.

Condition

Inspection under UV light shows some retouching to the hair of the sitter. There is also some minor paint loss to the edges of the artwork.
