Description

An expansive 19th Century oil landscape showing an encampment on the shores of a continental lake. Figures busy themselves in the foreground with baskets and barrels. The blushing sky reflects in the clear cerulean waters of the lake. The painting is unsigned and presented in a substantial gilt effect frame with egg and dart molding, foliate corners and an inner slip. On canvas.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There are several areas of restoration visible at the reverse of the canvas that have been fully restored at the front. There is some craquelure and texturing to the surface of the canvas. The frame has had a contemporary gilt finish applied. There is some tarnishing and surface dirt.
