Late 19th Century Aquatint - Saint Francis of Assisi

Description

A beautiful aquatint depiction of the French Saint, Francis of Assisi. He believed that nature itself was the mirror of God. He called all creatures his "brothers" and "sisters", and even preached to the birds, as he is seen doing here, with a bird perched on his outstretched hand. The aquatint is unsigned, on watermarked laid. On watermarked laid.
