L. Cajetan - 1890 Oil Girl with Basket of Fruit

Description

A charming 19th-century oil painting depicting a Renaissance woman holding a bountiful basket of fruit. She is dressed in a fine golden gown with a rich burgundy bodice, her hair gathered into elaborate plaits, as she gazes thoughtfully into the distance. Signed and dated to the lower right. Beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Fine craquelure and light abrasions throughout. Some discolouration to the surface. The artwork has undergone previous restoration, including repairs to the surface; notably, there is a repair to the upper margin. Wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips, stable cracks, and indentations. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age.
