Description

An adorable drypoint etching of a Skye Terrier by the famous German artist Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt (1895-1977). The print is a restrike created from the artist's original plate. Signed in pencil below plate lines. Presented in a glazed 20th century frame. On paper.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age. Minor foxing and discolouration to the print. Light wear to the wooden frame.

Artist Biography

Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt was born in Leipzig in 1985 and died in Munich in 1977. He studied at the Weimar Academy of Fine Arts under Lyonel Feininger and Theodor Hagen. Declining a professorship at Weimar, he went to Munich where he decided to work on producing engravings of animals. Since 1917 he had been published by Hanfstaengl in Munich, a copper print shop, which owns the copyright to his archive and other artists' works.
