A heartwarming and delicate etching in slight sepia tones, showing a bright eyed, curious little fox cub. The artist has signed in graphite to the lower right and monogrammed in plate at the upper left. There is a German paper manufacturer's blind stamp at the lower left. The etching has been presented in a pine frame with a card mount. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing.

Artist Biography

Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt was born in Leipzig in 1985 and died in Munich in 1977. He studied at the Weimar Academy of Fine Arts under Lyonel Feininger and Theodor Hagen. Declining a professorship at Weimar, he went to Munich where he decided to work on producing engravings of animals. Since 1917 he had been published by Hanfstaengl in Munich, a copper print shop, who owns the copyright of his archive and other artists.
