Kunio Kaneko was born in Tokyo in 1949 and graduated from the esteemed Musashino University of Fine Arts. A student of two renowned masters in modern Japanese printmaking, Joichi Hoshi and the sosaku hanga artist Sasajima Kihei, Kaneko specializes in the traditional technique of Japanese woodblocks. He incorporates lush features, including the application of gold or silver pigments, a tradition in Japanese printmaking since the nineteenth century.
Regularly participating in the annual CWAJ exhibitions in Tokyo, Kunio Kaneko showcases his distinctive style and mastery of Japanese woodblock art.
