A picturesque mid Century oil landscape showing a quiet late afternoon on a rural farm. Cows graze peacefully in the meadow outside the farm buildings under a blue sky with clouds at the left casting long, cool blue shadows over the scene. The artist has signed to the lower left and the painting has been presented in a 20th Century frame with swept rail and corners. The artist has signed and inscribed the title and location to the reverse. On board.

Artist Biography

paint in oil of traditional landscape and marine pictures, and teacher, born Chatham, Kent. He won a scholarship to Rochester School of Art in 1944, in 1946 becoming an apprentice to decorative artist Arthus Charles Gull. Also studied at night classes and was encouraged by the paint and musician David Mead. After National Service in the Army, in 1954 Denton set up as a freelance decorative artist while gaining fellowship of the British Institute of Interior Designers and The Chartered Society of Designers. Had several teaching posts, including Maidstone College of Art and Royal School of Military Engineering. Became a member of RSMA and International Society of Marine Painters. In 1983 Denton won the Hunting Group Art Award. He held several dozen solo shows in Britain and abroad.
