Artist Biography
Ken Symonds painted landscapes and nudes. Born at Swindon in 1927, Symonds studied art in London on a scholarship during the early 1950s. He traveled widely, working as a freelance illustrator and as a designer of book jackets in London and taking on drawing commissions during his time in Africa before moving to Penzance, his father's birthplace, in 1960. Symonds taught at the Penzance School of Art and the St Ives School of Painting, as well as taking on private students. He was a member of the Newlyn, St Ives and Penwith Art Societies and was invited to join the Pastel Society in London in 1990.
