An exquisite charcoal portrait of a young Edwardian lady from Kathleen Rumsey. Although we have no biographical information on the artist, it is clear from the superb detail and handling of the medium that Rumsey was a highly skilled draughtsman. The subject gazes directly at the viewer with an authoritative stance, her fashionable clothing and fur wrap indicate she is a woman of substance. Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. A 4cm tear to the lower edge and several other very minor tears to the fragile wove are visible, however they do not affect the main image. Small pin holes are visible in each corner. Areas of foxing.
