Description

An exquisite charcoal study of Asclepius, the Greek God of Medicine from Kathleen Rumsey. Although we have no biographical information on the artist, it is clear from the superb detail and handling of the medium that Rumsey was a highly skilled draughtsman. This composition depicts Asclepius preforming one of his resurrections. It is possible that this is a copy of a classical artwork, however we have not been able to identify it. Unsigned. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. Small pin holes to each corner.

53.9 x 38.7cm (21.2" x 15.2")
