An accomplished still life by Kasper Klaus (1874-1941) depicting a collection of potted succulents and cacti arranged on a silver platter and lace. The composition features dramatic contrasts between the dark, moody background and the vibrant greens and yellows of the flowers and foliage. Signed the lower right and dated 1937. The painting is well presented in a gilt-effect frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Light soiling and abrasions to the surface of the painting. Inspection under UV light reveals several areas of minor overpainting. Light wear noted to the gilt effect frame. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
