Description

A very pretty botanical still life in oi showing a frayed basket of plums and grapes surrounded by tumbling nasturtiums. The artist has wonderfully captured the soft bloom on the grapes and plums and has created a wonderful palette to create a highly attractive and feminine still life.

The artist has signed and dated to the lower left corner and the painting has been presented in a beautiful, highly decorative, Rococo style, late 19thC, gilt frame. The frame has swept and pierced corner and a swept rail. The frame boasts a hatched plain and ornate, floral strapwork with acanthus leaf details. The picture is in a more contemporary, but highly attractive and complimenting slip with floral strapwork.

On canvas.

Condition

The painting is in remarkably good condition, given its age with only very minor discolouration. The frame has cracking to the ornamentation plaster work (typical for its age) and a minor loss to the left edge which has been restored.
