Description

A very fine 19th Century landscape in watercolour, by the listed artist Julius Godet (fl. 1844-1884), and entitled 'The Valley of the Mawddach' in Wales. Godet has a delicate and meticulous technique, characteristic of late 19th Century watercolour painting. The River Afon Mawddach is in North-West Wales, and other works by the artist are known to depict the area. Godet has neatly balanced the scene, with livestock in the shallows, and figures collecting straw. Signed to the lower right corner. On watercolour paper laid to backing card. Signed and incsribed on the reverse.

Condition

The condition is very good for a picture of this age, with only some discolouration and mount burn.
