Julius Godet (fl. 1844-1884) - Watercolour On the Llugwy, Snowdonia

Description

A very fine 19th Century landscape in watercolour, by the listed artist Julius Godet (fl. 1844-1884), and entitled 'On the Llugwy' in Snowdonia, Wales. Godet has a delicate and meticulous technique, characteristic of late 19th Century watercolour painting. The River Llugwy is in North-West Wales, and other works by the artist are known to depict the area. Godet has neatly balanced the scene, with livestock in the shallows, and figures on the bank. Signed to the lower left corner. On watercolour paper laid to backing card. Signed and incsribed on the reverse.

Condition

The condition is very good for a picture of this age, with only some discolouration and mount burn. Slight abrasion to the lower edge, as shown.
