An interesting coloured engraving by Joseph Hope-Williams.mixes, Hope mixes his colours by hand, and uses old recipes that include beer and gum. This enables him to capture the brightness of colour that makes his prints so dramatic. Signed in graphite at the lower right 'J. Hope' and on the reverse 'paper - circa 1840'. On wove.Condition
The condition is good. With some minor discolouration.

Artist Biography
Joseph Hope-Williams was born in 1937 and is concidered to be one of the only artists alive who still produces Penny Plain and Twopence Coloured prints. Hope uses the original old techniques, which he learnt from extensive research in London museums. Hope worked at the Theatre Royal in Norwich where he worked as a scene painter for 20 years.
Hope has a stock of over 100 plates. He prints on a small hand operated press in cramped conditions, just as many of the old publishers would have done. He is also known for his Tinsel pictures and
