A striking 20th Century oil combining Surrealism with exquisitely painted trompe-l'œil still life, showing a woman's head floating in a glass dome on a plinth made from an old wooden door. The backdrop is formed from a reverse canvas on an easel, throwing the viewer into the composition. Signed and dated to the lower right. The artist has inscribed their address and the painting's title to the reverse. The painting has been presented in a simple metal frame. On canvas board.Condition
Inspection under UV light reveals some small areas of minor restoration.

Artist Biography
John Voss was a British surrealist artist, who worked primarily in oils on canvas. Elected to the Leicester Society of Artists in 1971, Voss developed his own signature style of surrealism, with a flair for compositional form. He sadly passed away in 2021.
