A very fine and minutely detailed watercolour landscape by the Victorian artist John Steeple (1823-1887), depicting a broad rocky landscape with mountains and sheep, beside a small lake. The artist has an impressive technique, portraying a delicate treatment of light on the scene, and a calm palette. Well-presented in a mount with gilt detail, and a gilt wooden frame, as shown. Condition
In fine condition for a picture of this age. There is some slight discolouration and minor foxing, most apparent in the sky. The frame has some slight scuffing.
