A fine pastel portrait of an Eton Schoolboy, seated in a wooden chair with a school book on his lap. Well-presented in an elaborate oval frame with beautiful rose mouldings and beaded running pattern. Signed to the lower left 'John Read' and inscribed to the reverse. On paper.
Condition
Various scuffs and scratch marks present on the paper. Abrasion has caused the pastel to rub away in areas. The gilt-effect frame is in excellent condition with a new oval mount.
