Artist Biography

John Laporte (1761 - 1839) was possibly born in Dublin and lived and worked in London. He trained under the Dublin-born Huguenot landscape painter John Melchior Barralet. Laporte’s first exhibited works at both the Royal Academy and the British Institution, from 1785 onwards, were mostly landscapes.
