A fine portrait engraved by the English engraver John Keyse Sherwin (1751-1790) after the original painting of The Right Honourable William Pitt, First Lord of the Treasury, Chancellor of the Exchequer by Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788).
The engraving has an inscription at the bottom edge showing the artist's and engraver's names. The print has been trimmed within the plate lines cutting off the bottom of the inscription within the plate.
On wove.The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a crease and tear to the lower left corner and a tear to the left edge. There are three small tears to the lower right edge. The print has been trimmed within the original plate lines, cutting off part of the original inscription.
