Light abrasions and texture throughout. There is some warping to the board. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Overall the artwork is in very good condition for its age. Some wear to the frame, including scuffs and small chips.

John James Griffith Blundell (1927-2016) was a British painter known for his figures, portraits and genre scenes. He was born in Lewisham, London, in 1927 and later lived for many years in St Mary Cray, Kent, before spending his later life in Orpington and dying in Bromley, Kent, in 2016. He studied art in the late 1940s, undertaking a diploma that included work such as an oil portrait dated 1948. Blundell exhibited his work at venues including The Mall Galleries in London and produced works in watercolour and oil. In addition to his artistic output, later in life he published a book on local history, and a street in St Mary Cray, Blundell Close, was named in his honour.
