A charming depiction of a figures sitting outside a French café. The artist captures the scene in an explosion of colourful oil pastel makes, paying homage to post-impressionist Parisian street scenes. Signed to the lower right. Presented in a gilt frame. On paper.

Artist Biography

Born near Manchester in 1949, Holt won a place on the coveted BA (Hons) Advertising and Graphic Design course at Stockport College of Art. He completed the final year of this degree course at Salford College of Art and was honoured the prestigious Bursary Award, which awarded to him by the Royal Society of Arts.

Holt ventured into the commercial world of advertising in 1973, and engaged in the role of Art Director for a prestigious agency, where his role was to design and illustrate titles for the European market. It was this role that introduced him to post-impressionist painters greatly influencing his own work.

Holt’s work has been featured in many group and solo exhibitions. His works have also been commercially reproduced at high-quality prints. Holt has been regularly nominated by the Fine Art Trade Guild in the category of category of ‘Best Up and Coming Artist’ in two successive years 1999 and 2000.
