John Fraser (1858-1927) was a painter, primarily of marine subjects. It is not known where Fraser studied, but he collaborated extensively with the Commendatore Eduardo de Martino (1838-1912), marine painter-in-ordinary to Queen Victoria. Fraser would often paint some of De Martino's commissions, which De Martino would then finish and sign. In later life, Fraser kept a print shop in the Grosvenor Road, Westminster. Fraser exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Manchester City Art Gallery, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, and Royal Scottish Academy. The National Maritime Museum also holds a number of his works.
