A fine early 19th Century engraving showing the bustling interior scene of David Wilkie's original painting, engraved by John Burnet. The scene shows an interior filled with the family of the recently departed, whose lawyer is reading the will. There is an inscription with coat of arms below. The publisher's details and dates are inscribed along the lower edge but have been obscured by damage to the wove. The artists names are inscribed at the two lower corners. On wove laid to board.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. and heavy foxing. Heavy abrasion and losses to the lower edge. The print has been cropped within the original plate lines.
