Painter and illustrator born in Dumbarton, Scotland. Fleming studied at Glasgow School of Art, 1930-35 and Art Students League in New York during World War II. During World War II he served at sea, providing him with the experience and knowledge on which his later marine paintings were based. He taught at Glasgow School of Art for many years and he exhibited at the RSA, RGI and RSW of which he was an elected member (1960). Examples of his work are in the collections of Dundee Art Gallery, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow and Paisley Art Gallery.
