An atmospheric street scene by John Bampfield (b. 1947), depicting figures walking along a dark, cobbled street. Warm, inviting light emanates from the illuminated shop windows, creating shimmering golden reflections across the wet cobbles. Pedestrians peer into the displays; a coach and horses can be seen further down the street. Richly painted in warm ochres, browns and amber tones, the work captures the mood and romance of the city. The work is signed to the lower right and is well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas.
Condition
Slight discolouration and some minor marks and abrasions to the surface. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Minor scuffing to the corners of the frame. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition.
