Description

A captivating mid-century study of a woman peacefully asleep in a garden hammock. In the background, bee hives hum quietly, and laundry sways gently on the line – evoking an idyllic English garden scene. The cool colour palette is subtly enlivened with a touch of lime green, adding a fresh, modern twist to the serene composition. There is a similarly striking portrait of a male nude to the reverse. Well presented in a simple dark wood strip frame. Signed and dated. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Overall in good condition. There are some marks and scuffs to the surface. Marks and scuffs to the frame. There is a slight gap between the frame and the canvas – this is due to ageing of the wood and some slight warping.
