Jim Gilbert - Original Mid 20th Century Mixed Media. An unusual artform: scratchboard, where a sharp tool is used to scratch away black paint to reveal a white backing. Inscribed Louise with a snake "Wu me with a Davy Crocket" Hat. Unsigned, but from the same source that we acquired 3 signed Jim Gilbert paintings, and on exactly the same scrapboard as one of the signed items. - so definitely by Gilbert. In fine condition.

JIM GILBERT (1933-1995) - Jim Gilbert grew up in the East End of London. He was a huge, powerful man spending much of his life in jail and began painting in the 1960s as a form of mental release.
