Janet Blakeley - Original 1979 Pen and Ink Drawing. Original artwork from "Look and Learn" no 894 (10 March 1979). Unsigned. On board. In fine condition.

Janet Blakeley was one of the more prolific artists for Look and Learn in the late 1970s, contributing nature illustrations and paintings almost every week. She was also a book illustrator, contributing (with others) to Watching Wildlife by Andrew Cooper (Usborne, 1982) and illustrating Alice’s Part by Vera Boyle (Macmillan Children’s Books, 1983), the story of a young girl about to take on the role of Elizabeth I in a school play who becomes involved in a real emergency.

Collection Information

From a collection of original children’s magazine artwork dated from the 1970’s to 1980’s. These include natural history illustrations from ‘Look & Learn’, ‘Once Upon a Time’, ‘World of Knowledge’ etc. Artists include R. B Davis, Clive Upton and Arthur Oxenham.
